A Comparison of Literary Movements Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

American literature has progressed through many different kinds of movements. While each of those movements adds something new to literature, they work together to enrich American culture. Although each movement had an effect on American society, there are two (2) movements that have foremost shaped America. These are the writings of The Revolutionary Period and The Transcendentalism Movement. The Revolutionary Period (circa 1775) was a key part of the building of America. Thomas Jefferson's The Declaration of Independence, Thomas Paine's The Crisis, Benjamin Franklin's commentary and Patrick Henry's passionate speech Before the Virginia Convention were great writings and speeches that helped galvanize public opinion in favor of fighting for America's independence from England. During this period, America was in a difficult situation with the King of England. They felt he was treating Americans cruelly, disrespectfully, and unfairly. As such, Paine, Henry, Franklin, and Jefferson realized that Americans must come together and believe in a common goal - gaining independence......
