Descartes Shift from Impracticality Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Was Descartes' Impractical Approach Necessary? Knowledge, as temporarily proposed by Theaetetus and Socrates, is defined as true judgments with an account (Plato). An account of anything can be determined as an experience and/or an experiment. According to Descartes, the practical studies of his time were not sufficient enough in providing certainties and truths he was in search for in order to lay the foundations for a universally accepted philosophy (Discourse on Method, Part One). Descartes isolates practical concerns from knowledge by dedicating himself to gaining knowledge strictly through reason and experiences, separating himself from all practice and methods of knowledge which have been proposed up until his time frame. He believed that he could find much more truth. Was his impractical approach necessary?
