The Shang and Zhou Dynasties were two of the most longest lasting dynasties to have risen to the throne. It can be said that these dynasties are the foundation to imperial China that has yet to have risen. The Shang Dynasty was in power from 1750-1045 and held the title of longest lasting dynasty until the Zhou dynasty came into the picture (1045-221). Of course it did not just take the title from the shang, it went through numerous events and in certain key ways was also one of the most historically important of China's entire history. China will go on to become the longest contiguously lasting nation-state in world history, lasting from 221 BC to the present day.
