Many people have hard lives, but this book will certainly raise your standards on poverty. If you think you have seen poverty by just glancing at someone in a soup kitchen, then you have not read this book. This book is about a family of 3 living together. They are living just outside of Chicago. They are living in an apartment complex named Henry Horner. There is lots of crime going on around them all the time. Pharoah, the youngest child in the family, was celebrating his birthday by running around with his cousin, when a shoot out happened. He is a 7 year old turning 8, and he handled the situation like an expert. There are always shootings going on where they live. These are no conditions for an elderly person to be living in. When I helped the moving company for the 9 hours of service, i got to meet some of the elderly that the company helps, and it is hard to imagine those elderly living in the conditions that these kids are in.
