What is the difference between vegetarian and vegan? If you can't answer this question you are much like the class of high school students that were denied ten points of extra credit since they were unable to answer. I, on the other hand, wouldn't have to think twice about the answer. I have been a vegetarian going on nine years. I made the decision because of the idea that eating a once living animal is wrong, but it has evolved into more than that. I made this extreme change in my life as a young third grader, and it has greatly impacted the rest of my life.
"Mom why would I want to eat something that used to be alive," was one of my more common questions around the dinner table. The idea of eating a once living chicken was, and still is, beyond my comprehension. Although my parents would always tell me that that is the circle of life I didn't take that as satisfactory.
