With DLJ going public for a second time, the IPO would mark another milestone of the successful restructuring of The Equitable Companies Incorporated. This second offering will also allow Equitable to retain employees through better compensation benefits. With the three major regulatory changes, the Securities industry was thrown into turbulence. Recent turbulent forces in the securities industry were: technology, eroding margins, expansion into new markets, interest rate volatility, globalization, and both past and possibly future deregulation. Interest rate fluctuations will always be a threat due to the correlation with net profits. There are four different method options on what Equitable could do: equity carve out, spin-off, divestiture through cash sale, or continue complete ownership.
