Ms. S is a biracial woman in her early 20s. She is currently a senior in college majoring in the behavioral sciences. She lives with two roommates who she knows only casually. She has two part-time jobs and attends school full time. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue employment or post-baccalaureate education in public service. Two-weeks ago Ms. S broke up with her boyfriend, who was 10 years her senior.
Presenting Problem and History
Ms. S came in for treatment with three distinct areas of concern. She recalled two incidents of sexual abuse that occurred during her early childhood and involved her father. She reported a history of poor interpersonal relationships and, lastly, she reported pervasive feelings of confusion, most notably involving personal identity, sexual preference and career choice.
