Daily Life of an Ancient Egyptian Farmer Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

When thinking about truly groundbreaking civilizations and cultures, the early Egyptians first come to mind. Here pharaohs ruled and some of the greatest pieces of architecture ever built are present. Early Egypt however shares many things with modern society today, and there are many things that we can learn from this ancient society. I will be writing from the prospective of a normal farmer living along the Nile after 3150 BC and the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt. So, if I was to be transported into this time and place many aspects of my life would change including: work life, family life, and entertainment which will be the focus of this paper. If I was a farmer living in ancient Egypt I would first of all be a very hard worker, who was tied to my land. Farming in ancient Egypt was dependent on the flooding of the Nile, and consisted of three distinct periods: Akhet (flooding), Peret (planting), and the Shemu (harvesting). My main crops consisted of ember, barley and other cereal grains, which we would make both beer and bread with. Usually the land was very fertile and......
