Everyone has a calling in their life. However, not everyone answers it. Harriet Tubman was one extraordinary person who answered her calling and did something unbelievable with it. She made something good and worthwhile out of, what seemed like, an impossible to fix situation. Not only was she a hero, She was a remarkable leader. People may not be born a leader, but they sure can be born into a situation that makes them a leader candidate. Harriet Tubman was one of these few people that became a candidate and was "elected" into her leader role. Harriet Tubman, born Araminta Ross, was born around 1820, on the Eastern Shore. She was one of eleven children conceived by parents Harriet Green and Benjamin Ross. The family's owner was Maryland planter Edward Brodas. It is said to be believed that Harriet's grandparents were brought to the United States from the Ashanti, which was warriors who battled the British successfully.
