In the story, "While I Live: The Ellie Chronicles" the author John Marsden tells a story about a young girl named Ellie Linton. Ellie is a young girl that has had a very hard life. She comes from a town in Australia called Wirrawee. Wirrawee is a town of war. There has been war for many years. Now Ellie is finally happy, back at home on her farm with her family. However, this happiness does not last very long. One May day, Ellie was with her friends in the fields when she heard shots coming from the farm. She and her two friends Gavin and Homer ran back to the house. Ellie was afraid of what she would find or who would find her. When she got there she found her parents murdered. Ellie was horrified. She did not know who the killers were or even if they were sill waiting for her. She found her mother lying shot in the kitchen and her father in the shed. Ellie was distraught that her life was changing. She suddenly realized that not only her parents died, but she now would have to take care of the farm and Gavin. Gavin was Ellie's little brother.
