Prohibition of Smoking in the Presence of Minors Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
The laws regarding where tobacco products can be smoked is different depending on each state. Some states have passed laws that prevent smokers from smoking in public areas such as restaurants, parks, and in a vehicle with a child. Laws such as these have helped to reduce second hand smoking in public areas but smokers may still smoke at home. Some tobacco users smoke inside with their children present. There are not laws that prohibit a parent from smoking around their child when they are at home.
Some states have passed laws that only adults over the age of twenty-one can enter a restaraunt or bar that allows smoking. Because of the prohibition of smoking in restaraunts, families can now go to a restaurant without breathing in the smoke. Smoking is prohibited on any public school property or day care facility and large fines are given to those who break these laws. Tobacco control that prevents smoking in public areas is passed in order to protect the adults and children who do not smoke.
