Pre-World War II Years in the United States Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Albert Einstein once said "I don't know what weapons will be used in World War III, but in World War IV people will use sticks and stones." This rather interesting quote resembles the same mentality that many people had in the United States after the First World War, a mentality plagued with fear that another such war might bring about destruction. Americans already felt that they really had nothing to do with World War I and so with fear and indifference as motivation the United States assumed a policy of isolation from the rest of the world. The United States, though, would eventually have to give up on this policy and dive into its peoples' once greatest fear: participation in another World War. Through his words about the future, Einstein reflected American thought about a threat Americans were already foreseeing.
