The story start with a couple who has been married for 15 months, and when they newlywed they promised themselves that when they had a house for their own and has economical stability they would form a family. The author presents a funny situation where his wife, Jenny, killed a plant he gave her, these really disappointed her because she thought that how she would be able to take care of a child if she could not take care of a plant. And so, Jenny was one day looking at the newspaper at the classified sections, and had 3 big red points around an announcement of Breed Labradors in a farm not away from home, because both had dogs as kids and knew what kind of happiness it brought to a family they agreed to buy a dog, also these would serve as a test to see if they were capable of taking care of a baby. When they got to the farm, the Grogan's had a particular way of choosing a dog, to scare them and the dog that came closer that was the one (it surely worked for "Saint Shaun", John's childhood dog).
