According to Neubert and Jones (1998), "in the effort to develop multicultural curriculum, holidays are the first thing teachers think of." (p.14). From my experience, I agree with this statement. In addition, Neubert and Jones (1998) says that teachers need to include more things in the celebration like show the celebration from different point of views, show celebrations from different countries and cultures, and when possible invite people from different countries to give a talk about those holidays. A few years ago, when I was teaching at a Catholic School, all of my students participated in a project to make altars/ofrenda. It was a great success and the students loved it. Last year was my first year at a public school and I was not sure how they will react. I decided to talk to the principal and she loved the idea. The students participated with great enthusiasm.
