Philosphy of Education Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
"Why do you want to be a teacher?" That is the infamous question that everyone asks education majors, but what exactly is a "teacher?" According to the Webster's Online Dictionary, a teacher is a person whose occupation is teaching or one who teaches or instructs (Merriam-Webster, 2010). However, I believe that there is so much more to being a teacher than simply teaching. A teacher is an educator, mentor, instructor, counselor, disciplinarian, role model, and so much more. If, when I am finished, all I have done is teach, then I have accomplished nothing. I had several teachers that greatly impacted my life growing up, both in high school and elementary school. Without them I probably would not be where I am today. While I know that I will not impact every student's life, I will be satisfied if I have made a difference in just one child's life. As of right now, my philosophy of education is very broad; however, I am certain that it will change and narrow over the years as I gain more experience.
