Parents, we come in all shapes and sizes. We each have our own parenting style. Many parents create their style from a combination of factors. It is largely based on one's own parents and culture. In the early 1960's, it was determined that there are four main types of parents. This is based on an experiments and research done on parents. Although you may not agree, we all fall into one of the following categories. They are, The Authoritarian, The Authoritative, The Permissive and The Neglectful parents.
Authoritarian parents are extremely strict. And expect their children to follow there very strict rules. Authoritarian parents do not give explanation on the reasoning behind their rules and punishments. It's simply "Because I said so". If rules are not followed there will be punishment. Parents, who are Authoritarian, have very high demands and are not responsive to their child's needs.
