American HIstory X Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
I just saw the movie American History X for my part of my experiential hours and it directly correlates with our social issues class, race factors into ever part of the movie. Race based murder leads Derek into prison. American History X is about a young man, Derek, who has finally been paroled after 3 years in prison and his life before he went to jail and the reasons as to why he ended up there. It is narrated by his younger brother Danny who is now in high school and from his narration we learn that before his brother was sent to jail he was a skin head and the leader of a white supremacist group who committed crimes against other races throughout the area. Derek comes back from prison a changed man and has realized that there is good and bad in all races and that no race is above another. He soon realizes that his younger brother Danny is traveling down the dangerous path that he was once on. He is determined to keep his brother out of trouble and keep him from ending up where he did.
