Business and industry information involves seemingly complex data and analysis. Also, the patron/client profile for users of this information pans across the spectrum and includes individuals as well as large businesses. Catering to the information needs of this varied group requires an in-depth understanding on the part of the information professional. With the large amounts of information available in today's times the information professional's job is progressively becoming more of a challenge.
As I mentioned in the previous reflection paper there are facets to business information that I had never even thought about before I learned about them in this course. Of course, many of the concepts had been heard of in passing but developing a better understanding of them has been a great value addition. The lessons on investments, accounting and taxation, and technology and patents are a good example of this. While all these concepts have existed for ages, looking at them from the purely information searching and analysis point of view has been interesting.
