Motivational programs are useful tools provided to employees to increase motivation, reduce the turnover rate, and to help in maintaining skilled and professional employees. The strategies used to influence and increase company loyalty can be with intrinsic or extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is an individual's personal motivation to engage in something for the feeling of his or her own personal satisfaction and accomplishment. Whereas, extrinsic motivation is using external rewards or incentives to motivate someone to do the task or activity required. I work for Amerigas Propane in McCall, ID. Amerigas is one of the largest propane companies in the country. The company has hundreds of districts throughout the country that are grouped into markets.
