Prominent Leaders of Nonviolence in the Twentieth Century Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

There have been numerous leaders in different parts of the world, who mobilized people to adopt nonviolence as a means to achieve social and political justice. Apart from Gandhi, the other prominent leaders in the Twentieth century who advocated nonviolence were Badshah Khan, Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez. Badshah Khan was a 'Pathan', who belonged to the Northwest Frontier province in the modern day Pakistan. He was active during the mid 1900s when India was trying to obtain independence from the British. The British were afraid that any reforms in this region could make India slip out of their hands and crushed any attempts to improve their conditions. Khan led these people to adopt the path of nonviolence in order to improve their social and economic conditions and seek justice for themselves from the British. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Black American leader who was active in the US during the mid 1900s. He wanted his people to get equal rights, freedom of speech, equal opportunity in jobs and equality in all walks of life. He strongly believed that there......
