Not, deprive, remove, reverse and lack are all words that help to define the meaning of the prefix "un-". While it seems that these two letters are rather insignificant standing alone, those two letters placed before a word can alter its meaning in a very significant way. It is these two letters that have made a man who is considered divine, human. Tsangyang Gyatso, the sixth Dalai Lama, uses these two letters to express his state of unrest in his body and soul. In poem four he clearly reveals that he has lost his past and his future to a life that was chosen for him. He uses the power of contrast to illustrate the extent of the loss and sadness he feels, and he does this by using the prefix 'un-' before the word written. Gyatso's use of words like "unwritten", "destroyed" and "erased" give a divine man human qualities (poem 4; line 2,3,4). The word written can be defined or interpreted in many different ways.
