In order to be successful, people usually put on different masks when they face different people such as parents, teachers, etc. Each and every one of these masks represents its own characteristics, meaning it has unique ways of communication and handling different situations. Sometimes these masks (hereafter called personas) conflict with each other and other times they do not. For example, the Don Juan persona (with his girlfriend), has many differences with the Scooter persona (with his best friend), although they are similar in some other ways.
The most important challenge for both of these two personas is looking acceptable in the eyes of their audiences. In order to achieve this goal, they present themselves quite differently from each other; for example, Don Juan always wears cologne and pays close attention to his hygiene, always asking himself "do I look nice?", while Scooter pays close attention to his appearance and asks himself "do I look cool?".
