During a fifty year period known as the Cold War, the United States and the Soviet Union built and stockpiled an enormous number of nuclear weapons. While this was going on the United States alone spent $4 trillion, just to try and out make the Soviet Union. As the piles of nuclear weapons grew larger, the chances of the world being destroyed increases. Not only is it a waste of money for the United States it is also a huge waste of money for the countries that do not even have running water or electricity. As the United States being a "role-model" for the rest of the world, we need to get rid of all
of our nuclear weapons first and then hopefully the rest of the world will follow. If we do not try, the number of nuclear weapons will keep rising. We may not get to a point were we have zero nuclear weapons, but cutting the numbers down we will prevent a "hot", nuclear, war from happening significantly.
After September 11, 2001 many people are afraid that if we cut the numbers of the nuclear weapons to zero, and then are ever get attacked that we will not have ......
