Humans are facing a severe threat to the future of the earth. According to former United states vice president Al Gore, "climate change poses a real, imminent and universal threat to the survival of our civilization." While the Inuits in Canada see its devastating effects in the melting of Arctic ice, the residents of south Asia see it in massive storms and floods. Scientists agree that the earth's climate is changing and that human activity is responsible for the said change. As a result of deforestation and the burning of coal, oil and natural gas; greenhouse gases like carbon and methane are accumulating in the atmosphere. Consequently, a high level of the sun's energy is being trapped in the atmosphere and the earth is heating up. Hence, the use by many of the popular phrase, "The earth has fever."
