In the 16th and 17th centuries, European nations started to view America as a land of wealth and prosperity. Explorers began making journeys across the Atlantic to establish trade and build colonies. Spain, England, and France were the major countries that established colonies in the New World. Although they had many similarities in doing so, the three nations also differed in various ways.
Spain, England, and France all had similar goals and methods in the New World. At the time, all three were powerful countries with strong rulers. They wanted to become even more powerful and set off to the New World with the general idea of wanting glory and gold. Upon arriving in America, most explorers from each country treated the local Native Americans there the same way. They were often forced into hard labor with lousy conditions and harsh treatment. The colonists tried to strip them of their power and freedom which led to revolts and uprisings. The natives were exploited and their food and goods were taken from them. Also, they received diseases from the Europeans that their immune systems......
