During The American Revolution (1775-1783) the United Sates was governed unsuccessfully under the Articles of Confederation and was in desperate need of a new Constitution. Keeping their motives for fighting in mind, the Founding Father constructed a Constitution to protect the American population from further rebellious wars with unjust governments. The Constitution was successful in guarding against tyranny. First,separation of powers among the branches eliminated the possibilities of accumulation of powers . Secondly,the balance of power between big states and small states was equally distributed through the Senate and the House of Representatives. Also,the establishment of federalism divided power between state government and the central government . Finally, checks and balances assured that no branch of government abused its powers.
