Honorable or Evil? Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In many literary dramas, a travesty occurs in order to captivate the reader. The play Othello is no exception to this analysis. Othello is recognized and exalted to the highest degree by his peers; however, he commits a horrendous act of violence by murdering his wife. The only way one can understand Othello's being able to kill the woman he loves more than life itself is to assume that he has been basically "hypnotized" by Iago. Most people would classify Othello as being very noble and prestige, but in reality he has very low self-esteem and hides behind his military background. In Shakespheare's Othello, Othello states that Desdemona married him because of his story, and he married her because of her reaction to the story (1200-01). The play portrays him in the beginning as being very kind, but that is not truly what he is. He is very naïve and uncertain. Every time a conflict or argument arises, he flashes back to his military battles. In the play when Brabanzio and his men come to fight Othello he denies fighting but thoughts of his previous military battles ram......
