When discussing the great deal of attention to elitism, educational and professional status, and white supremacist academic discourses, it is obvious to think of such names as Ella Baker, Lille Allen and Bylle Avery, Jomo Kenyatta, and June Jordan. For each of these people played very important roles in their own way. They all deployed a different sense of expertise, their own thoughts about who were the experts about black political life, how their philosophies about elitism and expertise influenced their role in black political organizing and how those philosophies and campaigns taught others about how this power relation works.
