Beowulf: Story to movie Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Throughout the Beowulf movie and poem there are many similarities and differences that set them apart. In particular, Beowulf from both the movie and the poem has similarities and differences that change how he is portrayed. Another character that is portrayed differently in both instances is Hrothgar. From the beginning of the poem to the beginning of the movie, Beowulf was a strong, powerful man who was capable of destroying men and monsters with his bare hands. Beowulf in the poem starts out with his men and sails to Herot and starts up a boasting fest of how he will slay Grendel and rid their land of the beast. In the movie Beowulf follows his poem counterpart and almost does the same exact actions. During the Grendel fight, both Beowulfs follow each other and they both fight Grendel with bare hands and no armor. Main differences in the two men were when they fought Grendel's mother. In the poem Beowulf swims into the lair of the witch and fights her off eventually killing her and bringing back Grendel's head to Hrothgar for a token of his quest. In the movie, she seduces Beowu......
