Salem Witch Trials Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Salem, Massachusetts was a quiet, Puritan town. It was a place where everyone attended church, prayed to God and followed the rules. The serene Puritan town seemed almost as a utopia. But in this same village, over one-hundred and sixty innocent people were put to death. This time period is called 'Salem Witch Trials'. According to Jess Blumberg's article labeled 'A Brief History of the Salem Witch Trials', the trials lasted from January 1692 to May 1693. In Salem, The Salem Witch Trials were trials and courts about mainly women being witches or in communication with the devil. Typically, young girls were the ones to blame people for being witches. In the book "The Crucible", a group of approximately 15 girls were accusing people of being witches. The girls would carry out outrageous acts and claim that a person from Salem cast his or her spirit on them and made them do it. The accusing would claim that the 'spirits' would hurt them and try to make them hurt others.
