A Dolls House Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
In the play A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen, Nora Helmer played a realistic part in the play. She was not your ordinary housewife. She represents some situations of what housewives are still going through in today's time. Her character in the play describes her as if she is on auto pilot doing everything in her power to keep her husband happy. She has a child like mind because of her upbringing from her dad. Her relationship with her husband is playful and obedient. Her Husband Torvald Helmer treats her exactly how she acts. She did not have the chance to grow out of it because she married her husband after leaving her dad's home. By the end of the play she has actually grew up and taking the initiative to better herself.
Many women that have just moved out of their parent's house and get married soon after falls in the same category as Helmer. She did not have much freedom of her own. Back in her time women would be quit and obey their husband. She thought she was happy with her situation but to only find out she was doing things that she thought would make her happy in life.
