A Dolls House Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In A Doll's House, Ibsen created an unhappy family. This family's unhappiness was brought upon them by the lack of trust that they have in each other. Nora and Helmer's relationship is a perfect example of what a real relationship should not be like. They have their ups and downs, like every family, but one thing that they never have in each other, is trust. The absence of trust in their relationship is evident in multiple places throughout the play and it eventually leads up to the downfall of their family's happiness. To begin with, one reason that Helmer had no trust in Nora was simply because she was a woman. In the time period that this play took place, women were definitely not considered to be as equal as men. Women were not trusted with anything, from obtaining a job to getting a loan from the bank. Helmer could not trust Nora more than society let him. It is not necessarily that he didn't trust her because of something that she did, but naturally because of who she was. Moreover, Helmer could not trust Nora with money. Nora had no idea how to handle money, or ......
