Hello. I am Mrs. Caulfield, Holden Caulfields mother. I have been asked to come here to talk about Holden, and give my input on the matter of whether or not he should be released from the rest home and readmitted to school. It may seem like a very simple matter. A matter in which most of you, I am sure, do not think is in need of this much talking about. Something most of you, hopefully, should never have to worry about. It may seem like something that is an easy yes or no answer. Well it isnt. Not one bit. It is a very complicated issue. Especially when you are talking about a childs future. Your sons future. Your friends future. Your siblings, cousins, uncles future. How can one simply say yes or no to something as high importance as this? I mean, it may seem like an easy choice. If you say yes, you get to see a young man grow, mature, learn. If you say no, you throw away this young mans childhood. His adulthood. His life. I am sure most of you gathered here today do not, did not, or possibly will not like Holden very much.
