In the Iliad and in Genesis two major figures, Agamemnon and Abraham are tested in regards to their pride and loyalty. When they are challenged by characters in their respective stories their true identify is brought to life. The heated reaction of Agamemnon compared with the compliant reaction of Abraham defines each character and shows how each characters future is affected by their decision. The way in which each character faces each challenge brings alive the person that they embody and the values that they believe in. Each circumstance that each character encounters reveals the type of person that they reflect in themselves. In the first chapter of the Iliad, the book begins in the tenth year of the war between the Trojans and the Achaians. In the first scene, Agamemnon of the Achaian army holds a woman named Chryseis as his personal possession despite the fact that he has a wife back home. However, Chrysess daughter is Chryseis who is the priest of Apollo, a powerful, immortal god. Chryses goes to the Achaians army and asks for his daughter back. Despite effo......
