Models Assistant was written in 2010 by Alissa Nutting, who was born in Michigan and raised in Florida. In this short
story, the readers are never told who the narrator is. The author gives the readers are no name, or even an age of the
narrator. The story begins with the narrator introducing Garla, who is a popular model that is very self-absorbed.
The narrator meets Garla at a party and Garla helps her in her drunken time of need. These two main characters stay
connected after this party because of this phone that Garla gave the narrator to call a cab with. After having the
phone for a few days after the party and becoming very impatient, the narrator finally got a call from Garla. Garla
then invited her to a fashion show and this is exactly how their friendship went on. Garla uses the narrator as some
type of assistant, and the narrator uses Garla as a gateway to a glamorous, fun, party-filled lifestyle. Throughout
this short story, we notice that the narrator becomes what some might call obsessed with this model named Garla, and
