King-Kok Cheung viewed The Woman Warrior as a feminist learning by imposing double-voiced discourse, which is shifting between the primary and secondary point of view, and between fact and fable. This tactic introduced the basic oppositions between women and men, and China and America. One salient feature King-Kok mentioned in the book is the silence, and this silence refers to both the inability to speak English and subservient to patriarchal traditions. However, the tension between Chinese traditions and American norms results in Kingstons maladjustment to both communities.
