There are over 79,000 people waiting for transplants in the United States waiting for transplants and 3, 000 are added to the list every month (Facts 1). Some people believe that organ donation is a grat act of charity and can save many lives, while others believe the body is sacred and it will harm the spirit of the deceased.
There are many reasons why people donate their organs. Many feel that when a loved one gets sick, espically a parent or child, they can make a live organ donation in order to help save their loved ones life (Molina 103). Angel Molina said, I gave him part of my liver he would have died without it (100). Some people decide to be organ donors because they feel that after they have past away it can be their last act of charity and their last act as a noble citizen (Stiller 95). Then there are also people who donate their organs because their relgion encourages it and also considers it an act of charity.
