Introduction
Epilepsy is often known as seizure disorder. It is a result of the brain malfunctioning due to abnormal electrical discharges in the brain. (Magill283) Some of the results of the brain not working include muscle spasms, convulsions, and twitching. Brain damage, illness, and abnormal brain development are all things that can trigger seizures, which are often indicative of epilepsy. Just because you have a seizure doesnt mean you have epilepsy. Epilepsy is located on many chromosomes; 19q13.1, which means it lies on the long arm of chromosome 19 and it is found at band 13.1. 5q31.1-q33.1, lies on the long arm of chromosome 5 and is found at bands 31.1 through 33.1. 2q24 is located on the long arm of chromosome 2 and found at band 24. 2q23-q24.3 lies on the long arm of chromosome 2 and found at bands 23 through 24.3.
