God is Not in the Thesaurus by Bo Don Cox
After finishing my reading of God is Not in the Thesaurus, I took a closer look at the title of the story. In his last chapter, Bo Don Cox describes how his search for a synonym for God resulted in the computers response, God is not in the thesaurus. Using this phrase as the title of Bos story places his emphasis on the importance of God in his life, and the impact that God has had on changing his habits. Religion teaches their listeners that God is everywhere, yet many, such as Bo did not believe it was possible that God existed anywhere else besides heaven and church. It takes an experience of drug and alcohol abuse, and a jail sentence to redefine Bos beliefs, and to allow him to be able to recognize and laugh at the deficient limitations a computer places on God.
