Technique: In displaying the concept of changing perspective, Harper Lee uses a first person retrospective narrative that immediately captures readers attention. The story is told through Scouts eyes .This allows responder's to see how the process of change is working on her. At times the narrative stance of the novel prejudices the reader against different characters such as Boo Radley, but it also allows Scout to pass comment on them with the benefit of hindsight. This allows us to concentrate on Scouts perceptions of change and how those around her influence it. Harper Lee uses realistic events which have occurred and are such an important part of American history, this adds realism to the novel. The realistic dialogue allows the reader to capture Scouts feelings as she adopts change.
The techniques used by Harper Lee include dramatic irony, when you the responder understand more about certain events, then so does Scout the narrator. The whole novel is written from Scouts perspective except one scene. It ......
