Generally speaking (or typing, rather), there exists a bond between siblings. The younger always looks up to the older, no matter how the latter treats the former. They follow in the footsteps left behind in hopes of achieving the same successes, even if it means feeling the pains and failures the other goes through. Instead of experiencing the happiness and pride of having such an impact on the molding of someones life, the older sibling is annoyed and feels weighed down. Thats just the way to describe how the two brothers feel towards each other in James Hursts The Scarlet Ibis. He used the elements of foreshadowing, characterization, and theme to develop his famous story.
