New days come and new days go, yet the world sinks deeper into its sea of corruption. Humanity has sacrificed its morals, hoping to receive in return success, money, fame, or power. In an ever growing society, corruption reigns king; success is achieved through the failure of others; money is gained by cheating and lying; fame is built on the bodies of others; and power will come at any cost, even your life. These fatal flaws are only human- or is it that humans are the fatal flaw? Mary Shelley, in the novel Frankenstein, satirizes the corruption of society. She shows the reader the ugly side of humanity and lets the reader see the consequences of their actions. But most important, Mary Shelley, asks the reader who’s the real monster: Humanity who corrupts, or the result of the corruption- the “monster.” Victor Frankenstein, the epitome of evil, is a beast who seeks the ultimate power of god.
