We Die soon. Is it cool to drop out of school? The poem, "We Real Cool," by Gwendolyn Brooks is full of irony and discrepancy. The poem is an understatement that lacks the importance of kids staying in school to receive a good education. A good education opens the mind to new ideas. Kids who drop out of school fail to understand the importance of a good education. The poem is a wispy argument stating "Kilroy is here" and it denies the personal importance of staying in school. The poem is to go without pride in being outside the conventions, institutions, and legal strucures of how the predominant society is conveyed. The poem escapes the drudgery and dullness of mising school and has left the lives of the dropouts open to failure. The poem is writen in meter epigraph that frames the poem and the dropouts self conscious word play. The epigraph suggests......
