Television Controversy Television is the most powerful medium the world has ever seen. Never before has it been possible to communicate and so strongly influence millions of people at the same moment right in their own homes. But its misuse has been felonious, and society is paying an increasing price (Langone, 1984). Unfortunately, television has become a powerful influence in developing values and behavior in our children. As a result our children have become persistent with aggressive, anti-social, and delinquent behavior. The increasing amounts of violence on television is effecting our way of life. Parents need to take control of what their children watch and stop relying on the television to teach values and behavior. The violence displayed in our media is causing our children to learn aggressive behavior, teaching them that violence is an acceptable solution, and desensitizing them from the effects of violence.
