Literary Essay On The Glass Menagerie Material Boy ® Millencolin Why as people do we often associate others with material things? We might do this to emphasize a universal understanding of how those people act and interact with each other. To get a glimpse of whom they really are. Many similar symbols are used in the play The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. Williams connects Laura, Tom and Amanda to adequate objects. They are thought to be a happy family that lives in a poor apartment building and are trying to get a tight grasp on reality. Williams skilfully manipulates the symbolic significance of the glass menagerie, the fire escape, and the father’s portrait to reveal Laura’s, Tom’s and Amanda’s personality. One symbol that is rather obvious is Laura's glass menagerie. The events that happen to Laura’s glass menagerie affect Laura's emotions. The Glass Menagerie represents Laura' oversensitive nature and fragility. Her glass menagerie suggests to us that she is fragile and small. A menagerie by definition is an enclosure in which wild animals are kept......
