Over the years marijuana has acquired many different names. Some call it weed, pot, grass, ganja, cheba, or even chronic. No matter what the name, they continue for some time. Years ago when marijuana was first discovered, people used it very differently that how people use it today. Some say a Chinese emperor first introduced weed as a treatment for gout sometime around 2700 B.C. Others say, [t]he ancient Greek doc Galen used the drug [marijuana] to treat flatulence (Cloud 62). The drug is not as bad of a substance as many people make it out to be. In actuality if weed was legalized, the government could control the substance and make it even healthier than tobacco. What numerous people do not realize is that instead of spending billions of dollars trying to fight the use of pot, it would be much easier and even beneficial to condone its use. If society and the government were able to control the use of pot, it would have many positive effects. It could create thousands of jobs, clear many prison cells, and even make an impact on the medical field.
