Feminism In Othello Feminism can mean different things, to different individuals. But in The American Heritage Dictionary, it is the "belief in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes (Dell 315)." Many short stories and plays reveal feminism. Feminism can be revealed throughout short stories and plays, by the plot. The plot of a story and play is what happened throughout the story, its meaning. Another, way feminism is brought out in short stories and play, is the characters role. The way the character betrays (the things they say and how they act) him has a lot to do with bringing out feminism. Also, the conflicts within stories and play can reveal feminism. Conflicts all depend on the resolution of the story or play. In the play The Tragedy of Othello the plot turns on a trifle that has a lot of feminism going on in it. In this play there is a misplaced handkerchief. Desdemona’s servant Emilia finds the handkerchief and the maid’s resentful husband, Iago, uses it.
