Edgar Allan Poe Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Edgar Allan Poe was a great American who vividly depicted morbid tales based on occurrences and hardships that took place in his life. He developed much fame, but not until after his death in poverty. Many would claim his tales were too morbid for any reader’s taste, but today many readers would claim his tales were well worth reading. His tales may be horrific and terrifying, but I believe his tales were a scream to all those who would listen from a borderline insane man. Edgar Allan Poe was born in a simple lodging house near Carver Street, south of the Boston Common, on January 19, 1809 (Meyers 4). Even in the beginning, life was complicated on the newly born Poe. At five-weeks old, he was left with his paternal grandparents while his family went off to act (Meyers 5). Being separated may have started the sense of loneliness that would later become apparent in many of his works. At the end of their acting season, his family returned to him and put him under the care of a nursemaid (Meyers 5).
