Mans Emotion Towards Animals in Pain Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Many people deal with seeing an animal that is suffering in different ways. William Stafford’s poem “Traveling Through the Dark” shows us a more logical way of dealing with the situation. On the other side Robinson Jeffers’s poem “Hurt Hawk” deals with the situation with more emotional attachment and a more in depth insight to the problem. Both poems deal with a man’s feelings towards an animal that is suffering. These two poems represent the different ways people deal with seeing an animal suffering through the two different men’s thinking processes. When first presented with the hurt animal each man looks at the situation in different ways. The man in Stafford’s poem looks at the deer on the road as a normal occurrence. He does not seem to be startled to see this deer helplessly lying on the road. What the man is thinking is evident by his statement that “It is usually best to roll them into the canyon.” He obviously has done this before and knows what he thinks is best to do.
