Thirty million people died of a sickness during the World War I era that had started in a fort in Kansas. These people died of a well known sickness known as influenza or the flu. However, this flu had been mutated from an easily cured illness into a violent killer. Although the flu epidemic may have started in Kansas, the fact is that it killed millions around the world during the World War I era because the disease was very rapidly spread through World War I.
Although the flu epidemic has killed millions around the world, the flu was said to have started in a fort in Kansas in 1918. Soldiers started burning tons of manure. The manuresÂ’ vapors were then inhaled by soldiers who then started to get sick. The symptoms of the disease included fever, headache, and a sore throat. In the town there were 500 reported cases and 48 deaths in one week. The doctors listed the cause of death as pneumonia. Then, the United States entered into World War I.
